Lauren Franklin is a multimedia artist from Northern California who is interested in the transient nature of time and its relationship with space and form. Being heavily drawn towards experimental and processed based techniques, Lauren takes a heuristic and nomadic approach to her work utilizing the moving image, site-specific installation and sound.
Having been inspired by the french filmmakers of the new wave and the industrial age futurists, she recognised the connection between the arts and sciences that served to excite the movements themselves. This has furthered her curiosity into the field and motivates her to reach for connections between seemingly unrelated disciplines. Thus, incorporating a range of techniques and themes into her practice, she allows herself the ability to explore potential routes that are not focused on one single outcome, but rather built upon layers of new facts, ideas and acquired knowledge.
